About Faye Kilday

Faye Kilday I am a mixed media artist from New Zealand and I create my artwork under my business name Woven Fairy. I use needle felting to create my colourful wool paintings. I make monoprints on my gel plate. And I also write poetry and take photos. I create zines (mini books) which combine my art and writing and sell them on my website at ko-fi.com/wovenfairy .

I adore colour as can be seen in many of my artworks. Working with colour makes me happy and keeps me inspired. The natural world inspires my art a lot as it's where I can be myself.

As a young child I was mostly nonverbal and very shy. Creativity was my way to escape from the world and also to communicate with the world. Many years later, as an adult, I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

My creativity has taken many paths over the years. I have studied photography in my hometown, Christchurch and pottery in Kerikeri. I have exhibited my photography, abstract paintings, fibre artworks and jewellery in group shows around New Zealand.

I have run my own business selling my inspirational poetry on a variety of products in gift shops and galleries around New Zealand. I published three books of my poetry and had my poetry published in various magazines.

So as you can see, I love being creative and creating artworks in many mediums. I hope you enjoy viewing my artwork.
